History of Hasantar Nunnery

Hasantar Nunnery has its own historical importance. Rinpoche constructed the nunnery Karma Ngedhon Osal Choekhorling at place called Hasantar of Syuchatar V.D.C., located at the western part of Swayambhunath, Nepal. It is said that the construction of the Hasantar Nunnery was started in 1994 and it was completed in 2000 with the help of many followers and supporters.

Inside the premises of Nunnery

There are more than 100 nuns who are given the opportunity to study and practice. As the construction was completed in its early 2000's with the help of their supporters and followers from all around the world, the building is four stories. The building contains about 70 rooms. There are many gardens with different types of plants and floras around the buildings.

As this monastery is home to more than 100 young monks, they will always welcome you to join in their morning or evening prayers. The peaceful environment of the monastery will make you feel better and provides relaxing sensation to your mind.

Other famous places around the Monastery

There are many exotic places around the monastery like Ramkot, Dahachowk, grave of Kalu Pande, Bindabashini temple, Mankamana temple, Switzerland Park and many more.

Hasantar is also one of the best place to observe the panoramic view of Kathmandu Valley. We can also observe White gumba and Red gumba from the premises of Hasantar Monastery. It also provides you breathtaking views of the mountains.
